In the old mills of Diksmuide you can visit the exhibition: "from grain to bread". The exhibition explains how mills processed the wheat into flour (and into our daily bread). The old Beguinage can be visited at any time: the chapel and exhibition area have free access.
Not too far away from the farm you can visit an old fashioned brewery where traditional beers are being brewed with a lot of love and craftsmanship. Every Sunday at 3 pm a guided tour is organized.
In Sint-Jacobskapelle you can visit a typical local pub called "The Fallen Angel". There are amusement games from the old days before the Great War and you can also rent a kayak there. In Passendale you can learn everything about the making of local, traditional cheeses.
In Izenberge there is an open-air museum that recreates the local village life, style 1900, with all the typical shops, houses, farms and activities of more than a century ago. Don't forget visiting Bruges, the most medieval of all Belgian historic cities. There are musea, historic buildings, churches and a cathedral, medieval canals from which you can admire the city in a guided boat-trip.
